Due to Covid-19 restrictions we had to cancel half of our English outreach camps in the summer of 2020. We had planned for twelve weeks of camps that summer in Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, and Croatia. Due to the pandemic and travel issues we had to limit our summer camp season to six weeks in Hungary. While in the U.S. for most of 2021 we wondered if any summer camp ministry would be possible at all. We were thankful that 2021 was not completely devoid of ministry and connection to relationships in Ukraine and Hungary. I was grateful to return to both Ukraine and Hungary for three weeks in July and August. Stacey and the kids stayed back in North Carolina. My three-week stay was a busy period of time. It was such a joy and pleasure to see so many friends. During the brief stay we partnered with two churches in Hungary, in the towns of Erdőkertes and Rácalmás. Partnering with the congregations, and Pastor Barnabas and Livia Gergely in Erdőkertes and in Rácalmás with Pastor István Fodor. A last-minute team was able to be organized with Hungarian, Dutch, and German volunteers and with the help of an American missio
nary couple living near Budapest. We were thankful for the help of Willianne Voogd, Erik Voogd, Pauline Reppenhagen, and David & Grace McBrier. God blessed these camps and it was exciting to be once again part of an outreach English camp, taking part in English lessons, singing, games and activities and most importantly sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with many young people in these two communities.
