Tiszaújváros Reformed Church
What a wonderful and joyous season spring is. Spring has always been a favorite time of year for us. After the bleak, muddy and gray last weeks of winter color and warmth return. Transcarpathia, Ukraine comes to life with a variety of colors radiating from the many flowers and fruit tree blossoms. We will miss spring time in Transcarpathia this year as we remain in Hungary waiting for borders to reopen and a chance to return home to Ukraine. Spring is equally lovely in Hungary as flowers abound and fruit trees are plenteous across the agriculturally rich Danube basin. While living under quarantine and lockdown in Tiszaújváros, Hungary, we have thoroughly delighted in the flowers and beauty of the grassy church yard surrounding our temporary home here at the church. The wonder of new life and growth of spring reminds of the promises of God, that there is new life found through Jesus Christ. As we leave the cold and dark of winter and enter the warmth and light of spring, what a reminder it is for us to leave behind our old selves, falling instead into the embrace of grace from the Light of the World.

11 See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
12 Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
is heard in our land.
13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;
my beautiful one, come with me.
Song of Songs 2: 11-13

Let us acknowledge the Lord;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.
Hosea 6:3

Let my teaching fall like rain
and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.
Deuteronomy 32:2
